A Suffolk woman was charged with failure to yield after an accident Sunday afternoon on Whaleyville Boulevard.

It happened about 1:37 p.m. in the 3000 block at the intersection with Copeland Road, according to a city news release.

The accident involved a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Nissan Versa. The female driver of the Nissan Versa had to be extricated by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel. She was then ground transported to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment of her injuries, which were not considered life-threatening.

The driver of the Tahoe was not injured. Wanda Wilson, the driver of the Nissan, was charged with failure to yield.

The roadway was closed for about 45 minutes while the debris was cleared.
