On Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, the Lord called our loved one, Carmilla Edwina Bailey, home.

Carmilla was born June 1, 1956, and grew up in Chuckatuck. She graduated from John Yeates High School in 1974. Carmilla was employed at Gwaltney Packing Plant for more than 20 years. She was most recently employed with the Kangaroo store franchises for 10 years. She enjoyed baking for family and friends and was well known for her cakes. She brought constant joy to those around her with her bubbly personality. She was the life of the party and kept everyone around her laughing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorraine Blow Bailey and Mills T. Bailey Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her pride and joy, her miracle baby, Jerry Lorenzo Bailey; two sisters, Vinell Burrus (Luther), Glenda Bailey-Whigham; two brothers, Lloyd Hardin (Cynthia), Mills T. Bailey Jr. (Maria); three aunts, Grace Ridley, Beatrice Blow and Barbara Blow; seven nieces, Asha Rodwell Moses (Howard), Shavon Rodwell Brown (Shannon), Dana Rodwell Hamlin (Ivan), Deanna Bailey-Holley (Martell), Lacretia Hardin-Boone (Dontae), Rhonda Hardin-Hunter (Jamie), Devona Hardin; two nephews, Darius Whigham and Naquarius Combs (Renita); great-nieces and -nephews, Tyler, Christopher, Jendaya, Jaspreet, James, Dyahmi, Shomari, Devyon, Laniha, Maharai, Nehemiah, Josiah and Kingdom; close friend, Rosa Ward (Varrance); and a host of cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at Little Bethel Baptist Church, Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Bernard Thomas, pastor.
