Christian Home celebrates 130th year

Christian Home Baptist Church on Longview Drive between Chuckatuck and Windsor, will celebrate its 130th anniversary at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 26.
The church was founded in October 1884, when a few devoted men organized the church and began to worship “Bush Harbors-style.”
Since then, the church has persevered many years of trials, tribulations, joys and sorrows.
Structures have been changed, and a new building was erected in April 1999. The Rev. Wendell M. Waller is the church’s pastor. Partly because of its location and partly because of the congregants’ love of their pastor’s teaching, members of the church come from a large area outside the immediate area of the country church.
The ministries of Christian Home support the surrounding communities. Relay for Life, the American Heart Association, the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation and a Cancer Survivor Day are a few of the community programs the church supports.
Spiritual training at Christian Home Baptist Church takes place during Tuesday evening Church School and Sunday morning Church School. Worship services are held at 9: 30 a.m. on Sundays.
