To the editor:

It has come to the attention of Nansemond-Suffolk NAACP that some irregularity has taken place within at least two boroughs that could have an impact on both boroughs and the voters. We are aware of at least 11 residents who have received incorrect absentee ballots.

We need to know what is being done to remedy the situation or what will be done to resolve this problem. And voters will need to be vigilant about checking their ballots to make sure they have received the correct ones.

At this time, we are conducting further investigation. In view of this situation, the executive committee of the Nansemond-Suffolk Branch, along with the president, has decided to notify the community via media and neighborhood networks to ensure the democratic process is safeguarded.

Please read your absentee ballot carefully to make sure the correct candidates are listed for your specific borough.

Please make your vote count. Don’t forget to vote on Nov. 4.
