Catherine Joe, 85, wife of the late Linwood R. Joe, of the 200 block of Wellons Street, passed away Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014. She was a native of Scarlet Neck, N.C., and daughter of the late Mack and Catherine Sherrod. She was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest Sherrod and Mack Sherrod Jr.; sister, Leora Sherrod, and son-in-law, Maurice Milteer.

She was retired from the Harrisburg Public School System after 30 years of dedicated service.

Mrs. Joe was a member of First Baptist Mahan Street, where she was a member of the Loving Care Ministry and the Hospitality Ministry. She was an active Sunday School member.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Betty Milteer, of Suffolk; two sons, Ernest Eure, of Kingston, N.C., and Richard S. Joe Sr. (Priscilla Dee), of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Samantha Milteer, Shantia Milteer-Hardy (Victor), Richard Joe Jr., Rodney Joe and Victor L. Hardy Jr.; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives, friends and soldiers in Christ.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at First Baptist Church, 112 Mahan St., Suffolk, officiated by Dr. Steven G. Blunt. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Cemetery.
