Addie Rebecca Purvis passed with peace and grace on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Nansemond Pointe Nursing Home in Suffolk. Rebecca, or “Sister,” as she was affectionately called by family members, was predeceased by her parents, James and Lelia Harvey; one brother, James Harvey II; one sister, Mary Wright; and her loving spouse of 60 years, Kelly Purvis.

She is survived by her son, Eugene (Leona) Purvis; two nephews, who were her adopted sons, Albert (Pearlie) Blanks, and Vernon (Shirley) Harvey, of Suffolk; grandchildren, Angel (Purvis) Wilson and Terrance Eugene Purvis; great-grandchildren, Ojanie, Ashanti and Ava Purvis; one aunt, Vergie Hollman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that loved and cared for her dearly.

A funeral service will be held at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 4901 Deer Path Road, Suffolk, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at noon. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
