Roosevelt Britt Jr., 81, transitioned to his heavenly home on Nov. 10, 2014. He was born on Oct. 15, 1933 to the late Roosevelt Britt Sr. and Sarah E. Britt, of Edenton, N.C. He was also preceded in death by his son, Terrence K. Britt, and siblings, Earl C. Britt and Armilla Britt.

Roosevelt retired from the U.S. Army after serving 21 dedicated years to his country. He later retired from Planters Peanuts, QVC and Penn Engineering, all in Suffolk.

He was a faithful member of St. Timothy Baptist Church, where he was an honorary trustee.

Roosevelt leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Betty Lou Boone-Britt; three daughters, Avis B. Blow (James), Rosalind D. Britt and Janet B. Britt; one son, Roosevelt Britt III (Naudra); eight grandchildren, Tenika Dodson (Kevin), Shannon Dominguez (James), Brittany Hurtado (Jose), Darren Britt, Elijah T. Jones, Rachel Britt, Olivia Britt, Roosevelt H.E. Britt; three great-grandchildren, Kevin T. Dodson II, Brooke L. Dominguez and Madelyn R. Dominguez; two goddaughters, Shante V. Demary and Paula Allmond; two brothers, Carl E. Britt and George Britt (Levora); two sisters, Mary Hurdle and Margaret Spivey; four devoted sisters-in-law, Peggy Reid, Marjorie Howell, Louise Britt and Brenda Howard; a favorite cousin, Ernestine T. Langston; a special church family member, Mrs. Beulah Patterson; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Britt will be on view on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, from noon to 7 p.m., and the family will receive guests from 5 to 7 p.m. at T.E Cooke-Overton Funeral Home Inc. A home going service will be held at noon on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Tabernacle Christian Church, and he will be laid to rest with military honors at 11:15 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
