A Suffolk man is being treated for an injury to his lower leg after he was accidentally shot while hunting, according to a press release.

Kevin Stansick, 41, was hunting with a family member when it happened on Sunday. They were in a wooded area near the 500 block of Deer Run Court.

Dispatch received the report at 4:42 p.m. Stansick was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The incident is under investigation by Suffolk police and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, the press release said.
