Fred S. Weaver, who always tried to live by the Boy Scout Law, died suddenly on Monday, Nov. 17. We are stunned and totally unprepared to continue our lives without him.

He was a “great dad,” “loved brother” and “true partner.” The picture is the only selfie known to be taken by Fred and sent by him to show that he had finished filling the wood shed for the next winter. An avid ham radio operator, Fred was also the ultimate vehicular man and could fix anything, a skill he often lamented as it was hard for him to get rid of broken items that could be repaired. Fred enjoyed his “geezer” job as it got him out among people and kept his brain working. Saturday adventures were a treasure to be protected and hanging around the homestead a cherished time.

A storytelling and respect paying was held at our home on Saturday, Nov. 22, and we have been grateful for family and friends who have helped and continue to help us as we continue on. Donations can be made in his memory and honor to the Western Tidewater Radio Association c/o Dick Harrell P.O. Box 323, Smithfield, VA 23431 or the Zuni Historical Society P.O. Box 107, Zuni, VA 23898.
