Liberty Spring Christian Church plans a new Christmas program this year that its praise choir director believes will show the true miracle of Christmas.
“I wanted something that really brings people to see the miracle of Christmas,” said Mary Byrum. “It gives you a concept of all the miracles that happen every day that people don’t even know about.”
The dinner theater will take place Dec. 5 and 6, with dinner starting at 6 p.m. and the performance at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance or $12 at the door.
Themed “Christmas is…,” the show will include “three different stories that all tie together and end at the manger scene,” Byrum said. “It’s miracles that happen in today’s time and finally the miracle of the baby Jesus.”
Byrum said the youth of the church as well as a crew for setting and decorations have been working hard.
“The kids have worked so hard,” she said. “We do two hours of rehearsal every Wednesday night, and that’s a lot of commitment from young people.”
“I have great people working on the setting and decorations,” she added. “You’re going to feel like you’re in Jerusalem.”
Byrum said she’s been considering the show for several years and finally decided to go all out.
“This year, we just took it to the sky, because I really wanted to do something really spectacular,” she said.
She said the price is not bad considering dinner and a full show are included. The menu includes chicken, potatoes, a vegetable, a roll, a drink and dessert.
There is no charge for children, who will receive a special meal and have a video and crafts in a separate room, Byrum said. The nursery also will be staffed.
