Fire sends one to hospital

One person was sent to the hospital late Saturday evening after a fire in the 5400 block of Pruden Boulevard.
The fire was reported at 10:40 p.m., and the first units arrived seven minutes later, according to a city press release. Firefighters found a single-story trailer home with flames showing from the front windows.
One person was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and burns to the hands, according to the release.
Two people were displaced as a result of the fire. One is being assisted by the American Red Cross, and the other is staying with family.
Westbound Route 460 was completely closed for about an hour, and one lane on the eastbound side alternated traffic. The roadway reopened at 11:53 p.m., according to the release.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
