Suspect sought in shooting

Police are seeking a suspect in a Tuesday night shooting, according to a city press release.

Warrants are on file for Charles Lamar Beamon, 31, of Sunbury, N.C., for armed robbery, malicious wounding, abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shoot, stab, cut or wound.

The victim is John Taylor Munday, 22, of Corapeake, N.C., according to the city. He was treated and released from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Police were called to the scene in the 1500 block of Holland Road at 8:48 p.m. Tuesday, according to the release.

The victim and suspect know each other, the release stated.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone who has information is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or text the keyword SPDVATIP and the tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Tipsters never have to give their names or appear in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
