Mary Lee Boone, 95, entered into eternal slumber on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014. Mary, who was affectionately referred to as “Sister,” was born on Nov. 16, 1919, in Isle of Wight County to the late June Artis and Mamie Jones Artis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Boone, and seven children, Roosevelt Boone, James K. Boone, Henry Boone, Frank Jones, Mary L. Hinton, Rosa Williams and Gloria M. Boone.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, six sons, Henry Artis, Wilfred Boone (Vernell), Floyd A. Boone, Norman D. Boone (Peggy), Glenn Boone and Andrew Boone; three daughters, Barbara J. Wilson (Leroy), Sandria King and Glenda Boone; spiritual daughter, Elder Louise Watford (Percy); three daughters-in-law, Thelma Boone, Ann Jones and Viola Elder; and many other family and friends.

Ms. Boone will be on view Thursday from noon to 7 p.m., and the family will receive guests from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A home going service will take place on Friday at noon at Piney Grove Baptist Church, and she will be laid to rest at Chapel Grove Church Cemetery in Windsor.
