Not even Bryce Casey’s 25 points were enough as Isle of Wight Academy’s boys’ basketball team bowed to host Williamsburg Christian Academy 66-40 on Thursday night.

Williamsburg was led by Xavier Green with 23 points; Andre Brown had 20 points.

The Chargers trailed by only a point, 7-6, with 4:41 remaining in a low-scoring first quarter. Then the Eagles (8-2, 5-0) scored 14 of the next 18 points to take a 21-10 lead at the end of the quarter.

Isle of Wight closed the gap before halftime, outscoring Williamsburg 10-8 in the second quarter to make it 29-20 in favor of the Eagles at the break.

Then, Casey hit his stride. He scored 15 of his points in the second half as the Chargers tried to keep it close. However, Williamsburg’s 22-point fourth quarter ensured an Eagles win.

IWA (2-8, 1-4 in the Metro Athletic Conference) returns to action today in the holiday tournament at Peninsula Catholic High School.
