Fiery crash sends one to hospital

Part of Holland Road was closed Saturday morning after a fiery crash that sent one passenger to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash happened about 4:37 a.m. at the downtown Holland exit, according to a city news release. Responding public safety personnel found the vehicle in the median fully engulfed by flames. Both the driver and the passenger were able to get out of the car.
The passenger was taken by ground ambulance to Southampton Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The driver was evaluated and released at the scene.
The road was completely closed until the fire was contained, and then one lane in each direction reopened. The road completely reopened a little more than an hour after the accident, according to the release.
The crash remains under investigation.
