The Suffolk Christian Academy boys’ basketball team lost big to visiting Friends School on Tuesday with a final score of 87-65.
“We didn’t play all that well,” Knights coach Terry Leiter said. “We shot 54 percent from the free throw line and didn’t play the game we’re capable of. I think we can give them a good game.”
SCA was led by junior forward/guard Steven Effler with 21 points, while senior guard/forward Nathan Leiter added 13, sophomore forward/guard Chaz Stone had 10, junior forward Barton Metzgar had nine and junior guard Michael Cornette had seven.
Of Friends, Coach Leiter said, “They’re definitely better than they were last year.”
Suffolk Christian (3-6, 1-3) is currently playing in the Peninsula Catholic Holiday Classic at Peninsula Catholic High School. The Knights’ first game came on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. against StoneBridge School.
SCA is guaranteed games on Sunday and Monday, though the start times will be determined by their performance in the tournament. Friends is one of the teams participating.
“We may get a chance to go back up against them outside of our own conference schedule,” Coach Leiter said.
