Raiford V. “Ray” Goodman, 60, of 4300 Butler Drive, Suffolk, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Autumn Care of Suffolk. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Charlie Alfonzie Goodman and Eunice Wilson Goodman. He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Philip Lowther; two sisters-in-law, Mary E. Goodman and Melvin C. Goodman.

He was a member of Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ.

He leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Hazel Zaneva Lowther, of Suffolk; two brothers, Jimmie L. Goodman and Hurley Goodman, both of Suffolk; one niece, Bertina E. Goodman, of Suffolk; two nephews, Earl Goodman, of Suffolk, and Talmadge Goodman, of Hampton; a godsister, Bernadette Hargrove, of Suffolk.

A funeral will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, at Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ officiated by the Rev. J.J. Ferguson. Interment will be in Corinth Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Hazel Lowther, 4300 Butler Drive, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
