Suffolk police are investigating an aggravated assault that allegedly took place on New Year’s Day at a party in the 6300 block of Godwin Boulevard.

A man called police to report that his 19-year-old son attempted to break up a fight at the party and was assaulted in the process, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said. The victim was transported to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing, and no more information is available, Klink said.
