Dr. Julian “Dew” McKenney Jr., 61, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015. He was predeceased by his father, Julian D. McKenney Sr.

Dew was a loving husband, father and dedicated physician. His commitment to his patients and his community exemplified his character and his identity. He was a prominent fixture in the Holland community. His quick wit and compassion will live on forever. He enjoyed “tinkering” on his “fixer-uppers” and any other project he could find.

Along with his mother, Latrelle B. Dixon, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marie B. McKenney; two daughters, Marissa Marie Aguire and husband, Dan, and Julia Anne McKenney; brother, Kenneth L. McKenney and wife, Frances; sister, Diane Washburn; and many other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at 1 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk VA 23434. Burial will follow at Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 in the funeral home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Condolences may be registered at www.RWBakerFH.com.
