In the worst home court performance during the tenure of Coach Ed Young, the Nansemond River High School boys’ basketball team was thumped 62-34 by Deep Creek High School on Thursday night.

The Warriors could do nothing at either end of the floor as the Hornets jumped out to a big early lead.

It was the first Deep Creek win at Nansemond River in 14 years.

“I’m speechless,” stated Young. “We just can’t pick and choose when to play and not play.”

The Warriors shot a season low 23 percent from the floor, including 17 percent from three-point range, and 36 percent from the foul line.

For the first time this season, no Warrior scorers reached double figures.

Nansemond River (6-6, 0-2) visits Denbigh High School on Tuesday.
