Junius A. “Lil Junie” Boone Jr. departed this earthly life on Jan.7, 2015.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1941, to the late Junius A. Boone Sr. and Gracie V. Boone, of Suffolk. One sister, Ida P. Jones, also predeceases him.

As a young boy, Lil Junie became a member of Chapel Grove Christian Church (now Chapel Grove United Church of Christ) in Windsor and remained a faithful member until embracing Piney Grove Baptist Church, Suffolk, many years ago.

He leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy of love three daughters: Laura J. Boone, Antionette C. Boone, Tavonne L. Boone, all of Suffolk, and one stepdaughter, Pamela D. Parker, of Norfolk; five brothers; Lorinza T. Boone (Shirley), Reginald E. Boone Sr. and Kevin N. Knight (Valerie), of Suffolk, Nathaniel H. Boone, of Chesapeake, Calvin H. Boone (Hazel), of Richmond; four sisters: Phyllis N. Alston, of Norfolk, Khadijah Abdullah and Jacqueline Boone, of Chesapeake, Najwa Speight, of Suffolk; seven grandchildren: Jamil White, Cherrod Joe, Tamyra Joe, Tavia Joe, Shanieka Harper, LaTiesha Harper and Tierra Harper; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Jan. 13, 2015, at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Piney Grove Baptist Church, 4901 Deer Path Road, with Pastor Trevon Boone officiating. Burial will be in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will assemble on Tuesday at 4200 Deer Path Road at 10 a.m. for the funeral processional.
