Fischer has been a Scout with Troop 16 for many years, serving in most leadership capacities, including assistant senior patrol leader. His Eagle Scout project was to install a fence and build benches in the Nansemond River High School baseball dugout.

Ethan M. Jones recently completed his Eagle Scout project by erecting an aluminum flagpole at Beech Grove Methodist Church.

Jones planned his project, estimated costs for site preparation and materials, assembled Troop 16 Scouts and leaders, and then over two weekends led his group to dig the hole, set the base in concrete and erect a 20-foot flagpole. Beech Grove contributed by installing a spotlight to illuminate the American flag at night.
