William H. Best Sr., 96, of 219 Prospect Road, Suffolk, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth. He was a native of Greenville, N.C., and the son of the late Stephen and Johnella Best. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Best.

He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Bettie Best-Brown (Jimmy), of Hyattsville, Md., Ella Baker (Walter), of Suffolk, and Geraldine Best, of Hyattsville, Md.; one son, William Best Jr. (Gwendolyn), of Suffolk; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Pulaski Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at 607 Kinsey Lane, Suffolk. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
