The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy boys’ and girls’ swim teams came up short against Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School and Walsingham Academy, but achieved wins over Norfolk Collegiate School on Friday during a meet at YMCA Camp Arrowhead.

“Overall, I felt pretty good,” NSA coach Karen Norman said of her teams’ performances, highlighting state-qualifying times produced in four different events.

Senior Taylor Berard qualified for state-level competition in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.72 seconds, and junior David Forman did the same in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.97 seconds.

The boys’ 400-yard freestyle relay produced a state-qualifying time of 3:52.37. The team included Forman, eighth-grader Nic Psimas, junior Sam Towler and junior Matt Minter.

The girls’ 200-yard freestyle relay improved on a prior state-qualifying time with a 1:55.02 mark. This time, the team featured Berard, freshmen Tori Psimas and Madi Wilson and eighth-grader Grace Rowell.
