Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

  • Caroline Hogg, junior for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy basketball: She was key to both of her team’s wins this week against conference opponents. In Friday’s 54-20 road rout of Hampton Roads Academy, she recorded a game-high 18 points to go with 12 rebounds and four blocks. In Tuesday’s 39-31 road win at Cape Henry Collegiate School, she produced 12 points, nine rebounds and nine blocks.

  • Keith Stagg, junior for King’s Fork High School basketball: His team missed him in its 55-53 road loss on Tuesday to Phoebus High School, but he served up an emphatic reminder of what he can do when he returned to the floor in Friday’s 60-49 home win over Denbigh High School. He contributed a game-high 24 points and also had seven rebounds, four steals and three blocks in the conference victory.

  • Aneka Yelverton, junior for Nansemond River High School basketball: She continued to be a key offensive contributor for her team as it registered important conference wins. In Friday’s 57-43 home win over Heritage High School, she had a game-high 23 points, including five three-pointers. In Tuesday’s 60-31 home win over Denbigh High School, she had 10 points, one of three NR scorers in double figures.
