A 48-year-old man died in a single-vehicle accident in the 5600 block of Holland Road overnight Monday.

According to Suffolk Police spokesman Tim Kelley, dispatchers were notified of the accident at 11:46 p.m. An eastbound tractor-trailer went off the road, hitting a guardrail and coming to rest in a ditch, it was reported.

Jonathan Lee Wilson of Portsmouth collapsed while talking with police, Kelley stated. Life-saving measures were performed and he was ground transported to Sentara Obici Hospital, where he died.

Two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane were alternated in the one eastbound lane that remained open. The accident remains under investigation.
