To the editor:

First of all, I have to admit my bias. I voted for City Councilman Tim Johnson, because I consider him to be a man of integrity.

No one who paid attention to the recent elections could have missed the fact the city manager’s salary and performance were two of the key issues in the City Council set of races.

So it should not come as a surprise that a man of integrity should make it one his first priorities to discuss the issues with his new colleagues and her. No, there were no major revelations from the discussion, nor should there be.

Councilman Johnson owed it to both his fellow councilmen and the City Manager to discuss his concerns with them so that they could be addressed and, we hope, resolved.

If you know Tim, you know he is an upfront and honest person. It is not in his nature to sneak around in the shadows with a hidden agenda. He is also not one to treat anyone unfairly because most people think that person has done something wrong.

I predict that Suffolk will continue to see this councilman address issues facing our city head-on. Suffolk will also see a man deeply committed to his responsibilities to the city. He will continue to make careful and measured decisions based on honest and direct discourse.

In the end, that is why I voted for him.
