SUFFOLK — Alice Underwood McGahee, 92, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015. She was the widow of Kenneth Robert (Bob) McGahee and the daughter of the late Irma Ritter and Peter T. Underwood.  She was predeceased by a son, Kenneth E. McGahee, and three sisters, Irma U. Jarboe, Frances U. Holland and Mae U. Sheffer.

Alice was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of First Baptist Church, the Suffolk Art League, and a 40-year volunteer at Sentara Obici Hospital.

Survivors include her son, Mark U. McGahee and wife, Jan; two grandchildren, Kenneth Robert McGahee II and Olivia Grace McGahee; two brothers, William C. Underwood and Thomas G. Underwood.

The family would like to thank the staff of Kindred Health Care — Nansemond Pointe for their love and support during her stay there.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at 2 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Thurman Hayes Jr. with military honors. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk.
