A single-vehicle accident Sunday morning resulted in the death of the driver.

Irma J. McCoade, 66, of Portsmouth, died at Bon Secours Harbour View after being transported there by a Suffolk Fire and Rescue ambulance.

The accident happened at 7:47 a.m. and involved the Ford Taurus, which ran off the roadway and struck a light pole. The accident took place at the intersection of Harbour View Boulevard and South Links Circle.

The roadway was closed for part of the day as police investigated the accident.
