James L. Corlew

James L. “Jimmy” Corlew died Jan. 29, 2015. He was the son of the late Harry and Hazel Corlew and grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio. Jimmy moved to Suffolk in 1959 to share Bible teachings and the resurrection hope through Jesus Christ. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for more than 65 years, Jimmy demonstrated patience, love and a generous heart in his daily life.

He owned Southern Tower Service Company for more than 30 years and Suffolk Crane Service.

His memory will be held dearly by his family: Ann Corlew (wife of 55 years), sister; Thaya Henish (Lou); children, Deborah Jones (James IV), Rebecca Fulcher (Jerry) and Stephen Corlew; grandchildren Amy Prillaman (Scott), Nicole Jones and Jeri Johnson (Aaron); great-grandchildren Ashton, Brylee and Jase Prillaman; and brother-in-law Thomas Cheiky (Sunny), of New York.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1351 Whitemarsh Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.
