A pedestrian was hospitalized and charged with walking in the roadway after being hit Friday morning.

The crash happened about 6 a.m. in the 600 block of Carolina Road. The victim, Curtis Jackson, 66, was walking in the roadway wearing dark clothing when he was struck by a truck, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said.

He was transported to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.

The driver of the truck was not charged.
