Lawrence R. Lewis Jr., of 1301 Sierra Drive, departed this earthly life on Feb. 13, 2015. He was affectionately called “Sonny Boy,” and he was born April 20, 1937, to the late Lawrence R. and Sylvia Evans Lewis Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine E. Lewis, and one brother, Joseph Lewis.

He retired from the Suffolk News-Herald after 40 years of dedicated service as a pressman. Lawrence possessed a great sense of humor and was well respected and loved by his fellow friends and family. He was also a member of the Lake Kennedy Civic League, and loved to meet his friends each morning at Hardee’s for breakfast.

He leaves a strong and lasting legacy behind. Left to cherish those memories is one son, Calvin House Sr. (Charlene), of Frederick, Md.; one daughter, Jennifer Clark, of Suffolk; one brother, Kelly Lewis (Edna), of Suffolk; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at noon at the Harris Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. You may send condolences to the family at www.vharrisfuneralhome.com.
