Suffolk native Covonna Bynum, 12, is set to compete in the Miss Pre-Teen Virginia United States pageant on April 11 in Richmond.

Covonna attends John Yeates Middle School and resides in North Suffolk.

She maintains all A Honor Roll status, is SCA sixth grade chair, class president of her technology class and a member of the TSA Club. She also enjoys playing fast pitch softball for the Bennett’s Creek Little League.

The contest will be judged on sportswear, gown and an onstage interview and personality. Contestants who win in Richmond will advance to the national pageant in Washington, D.C., during the July 4 holiday week.
