The Board of Directors of the Suffolk Art League has announced that applications are available for the 2015-2016 Suffolk Art League’s Sharon Picot and Chip Picot Memorial Student Scholarship.

This scholarship is available to students entering grades 6 to 12 in the 2015-2016 school year. It is not a college scholarship. Applicants must either live in or attend public, private or home school in Suffolk.

Up to $2,000 in scholarship funds are available for students to pursue their interest in the visual, performing or literary arts. They may use their scholarship funding for such things as taking classes or lessons, purchase of materials, instruments or equipment, or attending workshops or conferences.

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is April 23. Applications must include a completed application form, a brief essay written by the student, and a recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or other knowledgeable person.

Scholarship applications are available from Suffolk school guidance offices and arts teachers. They are also available at the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave., or by calling the Suffolk Art League office at 925-0448 or visiting www.suffolkartleague.org.
