The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office has made an arrest connected to a Friday afternoon fire.

Michael Lee Moring, 62, was arrested on a charge of arson of an occupied dwelling, according to a city press release. He is an owner of the home and was the only occupant but was not there when firefighters arrived.

The fire at the home in the 3500 block of Knotts Neck Road was reported at 1:21 p.m. Friday, and the first units arrived five minutes later. The two-story home with basement garage was fully engulfed by the time they got there, according to the city’s press release.

The home was declared a total loss.
