Police are investigating a shooting reported early Saturday when the 21-year-old male victim arrived at the Sentara Obici Hospital emergency room.

The man told officers he had been shot by an unknown offender as he left a party in the area of North Broad Street and Second Avenue, according to city spokesman Tim Kelley. The report was made around 1:45 a.m.

The gunshot wound was not believed to be life-threatening. The man’s friends brought him to the emergency room, Kelley said.
