Model trains return to WBC

Wilroy Baptist Church will host a model train expo for the second year running.

New this year will be the Atlantic Coast S Gaugers’ “Thomas the Train” layout, which will give children the opportunity to take the controls and guide the train around the tracks, event organizer Bob Langer said.

Returning will be Tidewater Big Train Operators, The Tidewater Modular Railroad Club and The South Hampton Roads N-TRAK Club.

The free event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 20, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the following day, with refreshments available both days.

“We’ll have hotdogs and sodas, and the (church) ladies will have a bake sale,” Langer said. “My feeling about it is it’s a way to introduce folks to Wilroy Baptist Church.”

Meanwhile, the Tidewater Division of the National Model Railroad Association will have its bi-monthly meeting at the church in conjunction with the event.
