Kathy D. Bivins, 51, of 552 Osceola Ave., Suffolk, died Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of Evelyn B. Griffin.

She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and attended Norfolk State University. She was currently employed at QVC as an inventory control specialist. Kathy was a member of Missouri Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess, member of God Select Ministry and a minister in training.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Carlton Bivins; one daughter, Carlisha Bivins, of Suffolk; stepdaughters, DeQuisha Beamon, of Suffolk, and Lauren Jones, of Virginia Beach; one son, Veldon Griffin, of Suffolk; godson, Damien Evans, of Suffolk; sisters, Angela V. Griffin, Brenda T. Parrish (Steve), Sylvia M. Thorpe, Ada L. Thorpe, Vertlene Thorpe Bethly, Regina G. Stephens (Ken), Meredith M. Butts, Lynette Ascencio (Steve) and Deborah Boone; brothers, Johnny Griffin and Robert Thorpe Sr. (Lawanda); mother-in-law, Nettie M. Bivins; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Faith Temple Apostolic Church officiated by Pastor Ronnie Boone. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
