Nominations are being accepted for the 2015 Suffolk Youth Achievement Awards, the Suffolk Department of Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission and the Suffolk Office on Youth have announced.

The awards banquet will take place at 6 p.m. on June 2 at the First Lady.

These awards honor youth who have significantly impacted the lives of local residents and, in the process, have inspired others to make a difference. Residents are encouraged to take the time to nominate a person or group you feel is deserving of this recognition. These awards are open to all youth that reside in Suffolk. Each recipient will receive a cash scholarship.

The categories are as follows:

• Outstanding Community Service Award
• Outstanding Athletic Achievement Award — for high school students only
• Outstanding Athletic Participation Award — for middle school students only
• Outstanding Youth Leadership Award
• Rising Star Award
• Outstanding Group Citizenship Award
• Outstanding Performing Arts Award

Nomination packets are located online at www.suffolkva.us. The deadline for submission is May 8.
