To the Editor:

Recent articles in the Suffolk News-Herald have highlighted the progress being made on the construction of the Seaboard Coastline Rail-Trail in Suffolk.

‘Linear parks’ such as this are needed in Suffolk today to connect our diverse neighborhoods and to connect Suffolk with Chesapeake and Portsmouth.

I’d like to offer special thanks to Helen Gabriel, assistant director of the Suffolk Department of Parks and Recreation, who has worked hard on this project for many years.

Let’s devote our efforts at creating more parkland in Suffolk to the completion of this important project.
