Two middle school students have been disciplined after they were allegedly caught with alcohol at school.

On Monday, a school administrator observed a student at John Yeates Middle School pass a bottle to another student as they walked to the bus, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink.

“The involved students were approached, and it was determined that the bottle contained an alcoholic beverage,” Klink wrote in an email.

Petitions were secured for both students for possession of alcohol on school property, Klink said.

School division spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw said both students have been suspended for 10 days pending an expulsion hearing.
