Two receive scholarships

Two Suffolk Public Schools students recently received scholarships from the Boone-Turner Scholarship Corporation, promoted by the Epsilon Iota Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Two Suffolk Public Schools students recently received Boone-Turner scholarships from the Epsilon Iota Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.

Anthony Bowden II of King’s Fork High School and Donnie Williams of Lakeland High School were honored with the scholarships.

The Boone-Turner Scholarship Corporation was established in 1995. It is a non-profit, tax-exempt foundation promoted by the Epsilon Iota Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.

The corporation is named in honor of William H. Boone Jr. and W. Lowell Turner, two Alpha men, who dedicated more than 60 combined years educating the youth of the Hampton Roads area.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. has a long history of involvement, achievement and leadership in inspiring young individuals to reach high and strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives. Alpha’s philosophy is that a well-trained mind is the one vehicle that will supply our nation with a strong nucleus of productive citizens.
