About five acres burned in a grass fire at the regional landfill off Route 58 on Friday, according to city of Suffolk spokesman Tim Kelley.

Dispatchers received a call at 12:43 p.m., and the fire was under control by 1:37 p.m., Kelley stated in a news release.

No injuries were reported.

Battalion 1, Brush 1, Engine 1, Engine 3, Tanker 1, Ladder 3, Rescue 1, Fire Marshal 1, Car 3, Chuckatuck Volunteer Tanker 9, Reserve 8, Medic 3A, and Carrollton Tanker 40 responded to the fire, the cause of which is under investigation by the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office.
