Suffolk Police have charged a North Carolina man in connection with a Friday morning accident in Suffolk that involved an Isle of Wight school bus.

Christopher Wells, 32, of Gates County, is charged with failure to stop at a red light, according to city spokesman Tim Kelley. Wells and the driver of the school bus, Jennie Boykins, 67, of Zuni, both are currently listed in fair condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Kelley said.

Both were taken there with critical injuries following the accident at the intersection of Portsmouth Boulevard and Suburban Drive at 7:11 a.m. No students were on the bus at the time.
