Rachel Francis, of Suffolk, participated in commencement exercises on May 16 at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. Francis earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in art.
The ceremony featured Dayton Moore, vice president of baseball operations and general manager of the American League Champion Kansas City Royals, as the commencement speaker.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that each and every one of you are gifted for success and will make a great difference,” he said in his address.
Moore received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree, along with Roger Donlon, one of the few living Congressional Medal of Honor recipients. In a moving part of the ceremony, Donlon administered the officer’s oath to ROTC graduates.
