Joseph B. Bush

FRANKLIN — Retired U.S. Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer 5 Joseph Benjamin Bush was born on July 7, 1938, in St. Mary’s County, Md., to Annie L. Bush-Barnes and James W. Young. On May 28, 2015, Joseph departed from this life to his eternal home to be with the Lord.

Joseph’s career path marked a life of service to his country and community. He served 28 years in the Department of Defense as a program analyst, rising to the position of Government Service grade 12. His successful service as Government Service person was mirrored by his 35 years of faithful and honorable service in the U.S. Marine Corps, during which time he rose through the ranks from E1 to E9 prior to being commissioned as a Chief Warrant Offer in July of 1971. Joseph retired at the rank of CWO5.

Joseph is predeceased by his parents, Annie L. Bush-Barnes and James W. Young, and his brother, Thomas Bush. Joseph leaves to cherish his memories a sister, Agnes Briscoe, of Charles County, Md., and other family members, friends and associates.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Franklin Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Kimlick and the Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Burial with military honors will be at 3 p.m. at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery at 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
