Work that started in early spring is continuing at the Magnolia Park-and-Ride facility, funded by a federal grant.
The reconstruction project started in March and includes new asphalt pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks, lighting and landscaping.
Work started in March and should be complete by mid-September, according to a city press release.
Arrangements have been made for commuters to be able to park in the Food Lion parking lot nearby, at the intersection of Portsmouth Boulevard and Suburban Drive.
The project’s total design and construction budget is about $888,000. It is paid for entirely by Congestion Mitigation Air Quality funding.
The Congestion Mitigation Air Quality program supports surface transportation projects and other efforts that contribute to air quality improvements and provide congestion relief, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
