Suffolk gets up to four inches of rain

After receiving between three and four inches of rain in some parts, Suffolk can look forward to a day or two of less rain leading up to a sunny Sunday.
National Weather Service meteorologist Tim Gingrich said the northern parts of Suffolk received three to four inches of rain from Tuesday morning to Thursday afternoon. The southern parts received closer to an inch, Gingrich said.
“For the next couple days, it’s pretty much diminishing,” Gingrich said of the chance of rain.
He expected about a 40 to 60 percent chance of rain on Friday, with even less over the weekend.
“Through the next 72 hours, we still have a possibility of another half an inch or so,” he said.
Temperatures will warm up, too, with highs around 80 Saturday and Sunday and more sun.
He said the rain will help make up for a little bit of dryness.
“We needed the rain, that’s for sure,” he said. “We were getting to be a little drier than the normal amount. It will help tremendously.”
