NRHS student arrested

A Nansemond River High School student was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly making a threat against a school employee, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink.

William Thomas Davenport, 18, is charged with making an oral threat to kill or injure school employee.

Klink said an employee at the high school observed a male and female student in an unauthorized area. The employee and two teachers escorted the students to the office, during which the alleged threat occurred.

School division spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw said the student has been suspended and recommended for expulsion.
