Andrew Cephus Beamon

Andrew Cephus Beamon, the son of the late Charlie Edward Beamon and the late Cora Eason Beamon, 81, was born on Jan. 3, 1934, in Sunbury, N.C. He has resided in Suffolk for more than 70 years, and his siblings included seven brothers and five sisters.

He is a graduate of the former East Suffolk High School, Suffolk, and later attended Norfolk State College to further his education. Mr. Beamon was employed at Planters Peanut Company for more than 20 years and retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after more than 20 years of service.  He was employed successfully as a general contractor in the city of Suffolk for more than 21 years.

He was the husband of the late Helen Harden Beamon and the father of the late James E. Beamon.

Deacon Beamon has been a member of Gates of Heaven Church of God in Christ, Suffolk, for more than years 50 years and served as chairman of the Deacon Board and the chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Andrew leaves behind his beloved children, William H. Beamon, of Suffolk, Helen B. Satterfield (Pastor Ray A. Satterfield), of Alexandria, Andrew L. Beamon (Kurean), of Midlothian, Calvin Beamon, of Suffolk, and attorney Charles A. Beamon (attorney Wanda), of Alexandria; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Samuel Beamon (Lucy), of Liberty, N.Y., and Willie Beamon, of Syracuse, N.Y.; two brothers-in-law, James Harden (Bernice) and Thomas Harden (Linda), both of Suffolk, and many other family and friends.

Deacon Beamon’s visitation will take place from noon to 7 p.m., and a wake service will take place from 6 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, June 10, at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at noon on Thursday, June 11 at Gates of Heaven COGIC, and the family will assemble at the church at 11:30 a.m. for the service. He will be laid to rest at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
